What’s the longest 1 on 1 conversation you’ve had in the past week?
My favorite podcasts are the 2-3 hour long continuous conversations. That’s really what’s required to exchange ideas or understand someone’s perspective on a topic.
Communication is imperfect so it takes a lengthier conversation to truly explore thought, cover all the different angles and account for miscommunication along the way.
Or maybe it’s less about the length of a conversation, and more about a lack of time limit, where the discussion is open-ended and allowed to resolve itself naturally. Something to think about when cramming meetings into 30-minute time slots.
