Lately, I’ve been messing around with Instagram’s live stream by mounting my phone on my bike and riding scenic routes around Dallas. I got the idea from this live stream I saw of someone walking Tokyo at night. It’s a specific genre called “adventure streaming”.
I grew up editing and posting videos to YouTube with friends – but live streaming is different. As the name suggests, everything is happening in real-time. And people can join your stream to watch what you’re doing moment-by-moment, as if it’s a live TV show.
As cell networks and body cameras (especially battery life) improve, I could see it becoming much more mainstream. I bet it already seems normal to Gen Z and younger. Here’s an example of a NYC bicycle delivery man going about his business.
